Why might a CMS student need mental health support?

Sometimes adolescents need a sounding board from someone outside their family and close friends. The numbers provided here can be utilized in the midst of any situation where a person needs urgent assistance.

The school counselor is available to all students for any reason. No subject is off-limits, and all information will be held in confidence according to state/federal regulations. Students needing more in-depth counseling services will be referred. A list of local providers is located here

School counselors help students reach their greatest academic potential. Academic topics often include organizational skills, time management, goal-setting, and test-taking/study skills.

Social-Emotional growth is the largest component of a school counselor's job. Our goal is to foster positive growth for every student so they can become better prepared for their future. Topics often include character development, coping strategies, anger management, anxiety, peer interactions, self-control, and decision making skills.

It's never too early to begin preparing for life after high school. The school counselor helps students develop goals to succeed in middle school, plan for high school, and to prepare for life after graduation.
